I’d heard a while back that John Barrowman’s American accent is (for want of a better term) his professional voice, while he actually has a Scottish accent.

After hearing it on the Friday Night Project a few weeks ago, I tracked down this clip on YouTube of him switching to his real accent while on the Wright Stuff. Worth hearing for anyone interested.

Having signed up for the new BBC iPlayer Beta when it was announced on the 27th, I got my login details through yesterday. I must admit, I like it.

With applications such as bittorrent currently providing people with TV shows they’ve missed for free (albeit illegally), its nice to see the BBC address the issue by providing their own solution instead of just whinging and suing 13 year-olds. I missed the Top Gear Polar Special the other week (much to my intense annoyance), so its great to load up iPlayer, and download it and watch it at my convenience completely legally. The quality is great and the download speeds are fairly nippy once it gets going. Okay, so its DRM’d and downloaded shows expire after 7 days, but that’s fine for most people (from experience of my Sky+, if it sits there any longer, odds are you aren’t going to watch it).

Its not quite TV on-demand. Through the nature of downloading stuff, its always going to take time. Full, proper on-demand TV is something that probably only cable are ever going to be able to provide, but this is good enough for me.

Well, hot on the heels of the film’s success, Hasbro h already started previewing its new animated series and toy designs for 2008.

The new aesthetic will take a bit of getting used to, but the toy designs look pretty fun. Plus the opening theme is one of the best in recent years.
