Look! A post about Kyle’s status post Sinestro Corps! Must be a day ending in ‘Y’
So Peter Tomasi’s been announced as the new writer of the GLC title, and has said that the only big change will be that Kyle will now be one of the stars of the book. Geoff Johns then later posted on ComicBloc saying that the plan had always been to have GL as the Hal/John book, and GLC as the Guy/Kyle book, before Kyle got sent to crossover hell.
It probably nixes any idea that Kyle may still retain any kind of unique status in the Corps, but hopefully it means he’ll at least be an honour guard Lantern like Guy. I’ve recently started re-reading the GLC title, as I found my memories of various stories that laid the Sinestro groundwork (such as the 2-parter with Guy meeting Ranx) had faded. First on my list was the GLC Rechage mini, which we now know had been the original template for the book before Kyle got moved to other projects.
Many people (myself included) had commented during the mini about how well Guy and Kyle played off each other (which was part of the resentment towards Kyle’s Ion solo gig - although that ended up doing quite well). Hopefully Tomasi will pick up on this again as it was a lot of fun.
Sadly the same interview confirms that Isamot and Vath will remain main cast members. I love Soranik Natu, the third “new GL” introduced in this run, but I’ve never really warmed to this pair. Especially Isamot who I’ve felt always came across quite lax in his duty for a cosmic protector. Nice to see that Arisia will remain a fixture of the title. Its been good seeing her getting page-time during the Sinestro Corps War. She’d kind’ve vanished after Geoff going to the trouble of resurrecting her.
