Great opening, Love the assortment of Doctor Who monsters. After the Master says ‘Is a Doctor…’ I think a fade out there, blackness for a moment or two and then the music start would flow better. Love the clips from episodes spanning series two and three, some bloody good episodes there. The transitions were good, loving how you split some apart to flick from one scene to another, and then back to the first (ex, the horse following the Doctor) and the close ups on the various characters near the end built up well with the music. All in all, a good video. =]

    Wheres the music from?

The music is Chris Cornell’s “You Know My Name”, which was the theme to the latest Bond film, Casino Royale. Easily the best Bond theme in years, and had a cracking set of titles to go with it.

Thanks for the kind comments. One thing I’d really wanted to redress from the first version was the lack of monsters. While I felt the focus had to stay on Tennant, I’d felt the balance was tipped a bit too far towards him in the first version. Part of the great thing about Doctor who is the monsters, and I had felt the Cybermen had been a bit short-changed in the first version. :-)

Once I’d had the idea to use the Master’s “…is a Doctor” speech for the intro, it then just made a lot of sense to use clips from that episode as well. So many good moments to choose from.

    Hey, more offtopicness.

You may have heard of the hack to allow users to install Service Pack 3 on XP.
The ‘hack’ is actually just a registry addition that tells the windows update server that you are allowed access to download sp3. Its actually identical to the ones that were given to official testers, and so there is no danger in using it.

    I’ve installed it.

A very unexpected, and very happy, side effect of the pack is a noticeable performance increase. Although the first bootup is pretty slow, after a second restart, things react somewhat more smoothly and more responsively than before.

    I loves it.

The only problem I have with it, is that is prevents the uxtheme.dll patcher from working, and therefore you can’t use unsigned non-Microsoft themes. But to most, that won’t matter.

Windows XP SP3 Through Windows Update

Try it out, if you like.

But, be forewarned. Even though I experienced no problems, but some may. I recommend this to people not afraid of XP reinstallations if things somehow go wrong.

Oo. I’m completely out of touch, and hadn’t even realised that a SP3 was planned.

A performance increase will be very welcome though. Especially running Linux these days, its really noticable how slow my main XP installation is to boot up. Granted 11 months of installing drivers and apps will do that to a Windows box.

Loving that, Alan. Nice juxtaposition of music and clips too :) Good to see that something you picked up at uni still comes in useful!

I’m lazy - have you got a direct link to the previous version?

    Cheers Fatima :-D

Yup, you can find the first version here
