There’s a cool clip online here. Its a 7ish minute piece with Jay Leno being introduced to the various different versions of the Knight3000, and getting to take the assault version out for a test drive.
Its especially worth catching, as it gives us our first taste of Val Kilmer’s vocals, as well as a pretty good listen at the new theme (which sounds like a really good updating of the original).
And just a thought. Can we let Clarkson have a go of it once the UK airing is coming up? I’d love for the new KITT to turn up on Top Gear

We were out watching Cloverfield last night, and got a really good bunch of trailers. Including this new Iron Man teaser:
I love the idea that the repulsors started life as flight stablisers. It makes a lot of sense.

Unsurprisingly, with the run up to next Sunday, I suspect I’m going to end up posting links to quite a few Knight Rider trailers
Surprisingly for the slogan “KITT is Back”, he doesn’t actually feature much in this one. Still, another good look at his talking light. Its more of a soundwave, like in KR2000. Pity, I’d have liked to have seen an update of the classic 3 bars.
We’re slowly getting to hear more of the theme as well. Seems like quite a nice updating of the original. Especially since a lot of remakes would’ve just made something new, and invariably not as good.

Well, don’t think anyone could’ve seen this one coming. Due to a conflict with his General Motors work, Wil Arnett has been forced to pull out of his role as the Knight Industries 3000.
Enter Val Kilmer as the new voice of KITT.
I can actually see his voice suiting. It’ll be interesting to see how it turns out. Its certainly a big-name coup, and not a bad bit of publicity given we’re only about a week away from airing.
There’s also the new poster (shown above), and a great new trailer (sounds like its still Arnett’s voice though - wonder how long it’ll be before they air a respun version with Kilmer’s vocals):

And as if by magic, last night Apple issued a new iPhone (meh), and the new 32Gb iPod Touch.
£330 though. Ouch.
Still, I reckon that’s the one I’ll be going for later in the year. While cripplingly expensive, the 32Gb should give me ample space for my mp3s, podcasts and videos. And not forgetting that I’m also looking at this serving as my PDA (I was originally thinking of getting one, before realising I needed a new mp3 player, and the touch ticked all the boxes that I was looking for in a PDA). So when looked at that way, the cost isn’t too bad.
Still. Ouch. May need to break out the balaclavas after all.

Talking of Linux Format, this month’s issue has a big “Distro Heaven” feature. Its nice roundup of 14 of the most popular Linux Distributions, and the cover DVD has 10 of them on it.
Its a cracking issue, and it was good fun flicking through the DVD the other day trying out the different LiveCDs. Its well worth picking up, and if you’ve never tried Linux before, then the different live CDs you can boot from the DVD will let you try out some of the different types without changing your hard disc. Brilliant!
Currently I’m an Ubuntu/SuSE man. Although I’m keen to install Fedora to get back into one of the more popular distros again, and PCLinuxOS has been getting a lot of good press in Linux Format.

I’m a self-confessed gadget-lover, and every day at the moment I find my list of “stuff to buy when I have money” is growing.
Aside from the ever-present desire to get a nice TFT monitor to replace my aging (but going strong) 17″ CRT Samsung, I’ve got my resolute vow that this year I’m getting an iPod Touch.
The iPhone is something I’m just not interested in, but for me the iPod Touch is way more enticing. Since my Creative Zen died last year, I’ve been very impressed with my 4Gb Nano. However, being used to more space, I’m finding the 4Gb a bit constricting at times (especially now that I can use podcasts), so the 16Gb iPod Touch is very tempting. And with the builtin wifi for web surfing, I’m thinking it could be quite a natty gadget for wasting away a lunch hour in a coffee shop.
However, increasingly the Asus EeePC is on my radar. It got an excellent write-up in Linux Format, and people seem to be going crazy for them. Its a great idea to use the solid state drive, and it seems to be incredibly flexible for its size. The price point is proving a winner as well. And, of course, the fact it runs Linux really appeals to me.
All I need now is some cash burning a hole in my pocket
