Another trailer has been released for Rise of the Planet of the Apes.

Again, I’m incredibly impressed by how good this film looks.  In a summer promising Thor, Transformers, Green Lantern and Pirates of the Carribean, this is slipping under the radar, and I have to agree with those sites who are already wondering if it could shape up to be the surprise hit of the year.

It maybe seems odd, since I’ve long been a big Green Lantern fan, but the superhero movie that currently has me most excited this year is actually Marvel’s upcoming Captain America.

I think amongst other things, its the fact that they’ve made it a World War 2 film.  This helps it stand out amongst all the modern world-set superhero films we’ve had over the last several years.  Its also got a good cast with Chris Evans in his second Marvel superhero role and Hugo Weaving who’s always reliable as a villain.

While the Merry Marvel Marketing Machine will doubtless now shift to Thor in a big way (and I assume the reason for this trailer coming out is that it’ll be attached to Thor), Captain America is the film I think could do the better business.

Yay, the first episode of the Guild season 4 was released last night on Bing Videos.

I’ve been a fan since the first season, so I definitely recommend checking it out.  Its one of the big success stories when it comes to web series, and if you’re interested then you can check out all of the first three seasons on the Guild’s Youtube page.

I was on Twitter the other day when Stephen Fry tweeted about the ChartJackers.   Its a single put together entirely through the goodwill and contributions of the online community with all proceeds going to Children in Need.  There’s more info through BBC Switch who’ve followed their efforts.

The much-hyped CGI Arnie has now turned up in the latest trailer for Terminator: Salvation.

I must admit, when I heard this news my reaction was a mixture of “that’s so cool” and worry that sometimes films use CGI that isn’t quite up to their ambitions.   From the brief shots in this trailer though, it looks really good, and from a mythos point of view its really exciting to see the T-800 again as he appeared in the first movie, and presumably restored to his full threat value, as subsequent movies have always pitched the T-800 as the underdog.

I’m seeing the film tonight, so I’ll be very excited to see this on the big screen and see how it holds up.

This is just awesome.  Someone put a lot of hard work into it.  I hope whoever’s making the real movie is paying attention.

I started working on this a while ago, but with the bad news from NBC this week, and the resulting #savekitt campaign on Twitter, it seemed like a good excuse to get it finished :)

Stan Bush has released this new version of The Touch, dubbed Sam’s theme.  After his song Til All Are One didn’t make it onto the soundtrack for the Transformers movie 2 years ago, he’s opted to redo The Touch in a style more fitting with the first film’s soundtrack.

Obviously the original is still the best, but I kinda like this version.  I could pretty easily see it playing over the end credits for Revenge of the Fallen :-)

You can view it here.

Just wanted to link to this great fan-made music video tribute to Chuck.  Really enjoyed this one :-)

The first trailer for the new K9 spin-off is now available on Youtube.

I know I’m not the target audience for this, but I usually can enjoy kids shows.  This looks a bit shakey though.  Saying that, the effects aren’t finished, so its safe to assume they’ll be a bit better in the final version.

We’ll see what its like once it comes out.  But I wasn’t too keen based on this trailer.  The K9 prop itself looked a lot cheaper than I was expecting.   And K9 without John Leeson just sounds wrong.
