They need to get this Batman and Robin relationship right. Seems to me like it is one of those amazing partnerships that seems to have no place in the contemporary mindset. Father and Son seems like the obvious dynamic. That has to be a rich plot dynamic.

I'm planning a more detailed GL post, but yeah, GL was just a direct continuation, and those books definitely seem to be almost ignoring the reboot. To be honest, in some ways I thought it hurt the issue. As an ongoing reader, I enjoyed it (and I'm liking how Johns is giving Hal some much needed focus in this arc), but as a jumping on point for new readers, like all the other number 1's are supposed to be, I don't think this really worked. I'd have held off on the Sinestro stuff until next month, and focused squarely on Hal.

I am intrigued to see what remains of the old continuity. As you say, the destruction of Coast City must be radically altered (although presumably must've still happened to some degree in order for Hal to become Parallax the first time). Likewise with Kyle. Part of his whole thing has been the "everyone I loves dies", to the point where it was pretty much a running gag. However if Donna and Jade don't exist in the new universe, what does that mean for Kyle's character?

Certain things we can assume are now properly gone, just due to the plots Geoff's been telling for years now (all the stuff with Oa's foundry etc doesn't entirely make sense if Kyle blew up the planet - so we can assume that never happened now - likewise Guardians have always been both male and female in the new universe). Of course, by the flip side of things, the reboot allows them to bring back characters that were otherwise dead and off the table, which could be quite fun (from the Kyle fanboy point of view - killing Nero was a waste of a decent villain).

I definitely think part of the fun of the GL books is going to be figuring out how it all fits together now, as much of the past must be pretty different, despite recent stories remaining the same.

Strangely (though I'm happy about it in a lot of ways!) GL's continuity seems completely unchanged. The Sinestro Corps War still occurred (God knows how that can be without a Superman, Superboy Prime, Anti-Monitor, Cyborg City and the destruction of Coast City) and it's feeling rather interesting. Wish I knew why Sinestro didn't keep the yellow ring he destroyed, even if he didn't plan on wearing it just yet.

Currently, the GL books feel like a 'don't ask' kind of system, it's like they're operating in their own, original DCU, continuity, reboot be damned.

I can work with that.

Yeah. There's still some functionality (groups) that's useful to me in Facebook, as my Star Trek Online fleet uses it. I do have a lot of friends that'll never switch, but I'm glad enough people are now using Google+ to make it worthwhile.

I quite agree. It's just a shame there are so many people on Facebook who haven't (yet) signed up to Google+. If it wasn't for the fact I'd be cutting so many ties, I'd be jumping ship immediately.
